In the year 1905, the famous potographer and publicist Pierre Dieulefils traveled from his home in Hanoi to Phnom Penh in Cambodia, and later to Kompong Cham and the province of Siem Reap, which was then a part of Thailand, with the temples of the Angkor period. He documented the journey extensively on hundreds of glas plate negatives and published the photographs first as postcards, later in picture books.
This work follows his footsteps on 9 maps with detailed description of individual shots, if possible exact position of the photographer, provides historical and culturel background and comparisons with today.
All 232 picture postcards of the red serie are shown in original size.

John Burgess:
An excellent, fascinating book. Renauer and Dieulefils take you deep into the Angkor of a century ago.
Proffessor Joachim K. Bautze:
Althoug limited to 103 copies and despite occasional repetitions of text passages and evident misprints, the book should achieve widespread distribution. The detailed comparisons between Dieulefils`s prints and Renauer`s corresponding photographs alone make this limited edition highly worthwhile.
The book deserves a place in all important Southeast Asian research libraries.
